WORCESTERSHIRE went down by 10 wickets as Kent completed victory in the Specsavers County Championship Division Two match at Canterbury after just 75 minutes of the final day.

Veteran Kent seamer Darren Stevens did the damage with the second new ball as Worcestershire, who resumed on 213-6, were dismissed for 251 in 93.3 overs.

Stevens claimed three of the wickets to fall before Kent openers Daniel Bell-Drummond and Sean Dickson knocked off the 12 runs required for victory.

Kent collect 23 points from the game and Worcestershire four thanks to one batting and three bowling points.

The County now have a week's break from action before they take on Glamorgan in another Championship encounter at New Road from next Saturday.

Matt Coles made the initial breakthrough in dismissing Ben Cox for 39 and then Stevens polished off the innings.

Joe Leach (3), Kyle Abbott (10) and Ed Barnard (17) all fell in quick succession to the 40-year-old.

There were still six runs needed to avoid the innings defeat when the ninth wicket fell but Barnard and Charlie Morris added 17.

Stevens finished with 3-31, James Tredwell 2-88 and Will Gidman 2-21.

Worcestershire were always fighting an uphill battle after being bowled out for 211 in their first innings after being put into bat.

But they are still well in contention in the race for promotion with five games still remaining.

The County are third 13 points behind Kent, who took over from Essex at the top of the table. Only one team goes up.
