WORCESTER City chairman Anthony Hampson says the selling of more than 300 season tickets proves there is an appetite for the club despite their exile at Aggborough.

This week has seen the Blue and Whites smash their latest target for sales with more expected ahead of Saturday’s eagerly-awaited Vanarama Conference North home opener against Stalybridge Celtic.

With the club preparing for a second season away from Worcester, such support has given Hampson huge encouragement for the future.

Consequently, the City chief is hoping the positivity will reflect on the pitch with City aiming to improve on last season’s 15th-place finish.

He said: “We as a board are delighted with the season ticket sales which have exceeded our expectations. This has confirmed to us that there is still an appetite in the city to support Worcester City while we look for a new permanent home.”

Hampson continued: “With the work over the summer months on building the squad having been pretty much finalised, I think we can feel more confident about our prospects for this season than at this time last year when it was all last minute and touch and go with some of the more senior players.

“We are therefore in a much stronger position to hope for a higher placed finish this time round.”

Fans who have paid for postage of their season tickets will receive their books this week but tickets can be collected from the Plough in Fish Street between 12.30pm and 2pm and from 7pm to 8pm today and tomorrow.

The shop at Aggborough will also be open for collections daily from 1pm to 2.45pm.
