DANIEL Nti says he is settled at Worcester City and wants to improve on the 16 goals he scored last season.

The 21-year-old was at the centre of an on-off transfer saga with Wrexham during the latter stages of a pre-season, in which his future was the subject of much speculation surrounding a summer move.

However, that all ended on the eve of the campaign with Nti signing a new contract to stay put for a second season.

Although he attracted interest from the Vanarama Conference, also having a trial at Nuneaton Town, the former Loughborough University striker is now focused on bringing success to Worcester.

Nti said: “I’m just happy to be settled and I just want to do the best I can for this club. I am happy with what I’ve done getting some playing time.

“I just want to beat the goals tally that I got last season.”

Nti is yet to get off the mark this term and will be looking to put that right when City head to Guiseley in Vanarama Conference North today (3pm).

The Blue and Whites are aiming to keep their unbeaten record intact, while also registering a first victory of the 2014-15 campaign. Although they are yet to win, Nti feels they are heading in the right direction, pointing to some of their play during Tuesday’s 0-0 draw against 10-man Oxford City.

He said: “I think we came out flying in the first-half and in the first 20 minutes we were very good, but we died down and they got into their passing game. We talked about that in the changing room and in the second-half I think we did well.

“We took on board what was happening in the first-half and changed it around. I think we could have got more than a point in the circumstances in the second-half.

“I think we had loads of chances and if we were a bit more clinical we could have come off with three points, which I think we fully deserved.”

Nti also has plenty of competition for a place in the team with former Stevenage forward Dan Udoh pushing for a start.

“The squad’s looking very good,” he said. “Off the bench we’ve got strong players and people from last season like Ebby Nelson-Addy, who I think could be challenging for a place in the team.”
