MANAGER Carl Heeley admitted Worcester City were beaten by a much better team following their 4-0 defeat at Fylde.

The Blue and Whites’ barren spell on the road continued against the newly-promoted outfit who had the game wrapped up by half-time.

Heeley, whose side have slipped to 13th in Vanarama Conference North, reckons Worcester can have few complaints.

He said: “If you look at their goals-for column, they’re coming up towards 30 goals before the end of September — you can see that every time they attack they look like scoring.

“Sometimes you have to put your hands up and say we’ve come across a far better team on the day with a lot more firepower and they punished us by scoring some really, really good goals.

“I wouldn’t say it was our worst performance of the season but more the best team that we’ve played against.”

He added: “I was disappointed in us defensively but I thought the front three for Fylde of Barnes, Rowe and Allen absolutely tore us apart at times.

“For their first goal, the boy’s run 40 yards with the ball and gone through the keeper, and the second one shows that we’ve got to mark as their player has smashed it in from eight yards.

“Then the other winger did virtually the same — a carbon-copy of the first — and hit it with his left foot into the bottom corner. That’s disappointing but you just have to keep going and think about not conceding any more goals and can we get ourselves back in it.

“But it isn’t just defensively and I’m not going to be too critical of the boys as they came up against a better team who were far better than us.

“We’re not the only team they’ve scored goals against so we’ll stick together and I’ll give them some credit.”
