MANAGER Carl Heeley says Worcester City will use a potential third round home tie against Chesterfield as the incentive for their televised FA Cup replay with Scunthorpe United.

City drew 1-1 at Glanford Park on Sunday and will do battle again with the League One outfit at Aggborough in front of the BT Sport cameras on Wednesday, December 17.

The winners face a third round clash against Chesterfield, 12th in League One, although the Spireites could yet be expelled from the competition for fielding an ineligible player in their 1-0 second round win at MK Dons.

Chesterfield have been charged by the Football Association for playing on-loan Wolves centre-half Georg Margreitter without written permission from his parent club and have until 5pm on Thursday to respond.

But the City boss says that is irrelevant as he prepares his side for the return clash against Scunthorpe.

Reflecting on tonight’s draw, Heeley said: “There’s a disappointment because you want one of the big Premier League boys.

“But it’s another home tie and the incentive is, if we can beat Scunthorpe, we’ve got another tie that we will feel at this stage of the competition is a tie we could win.

“But we’re not there yet, we’ve got to beat Scunthorpe first and that’s going to be incredibly tough.

“We’re in the second round, we’ve taken a League One team to a replay and we’ve got to beat them.

“That’s all we’ll focus on. If we’re lucky enough to get through then we’ll start focusing on the next one.”

Next Wednesday’s replay will bank City a £36,000 broadcast fee, taking their earnings in the competition so far close to £150,000.

Heeley said: “We deserve it. I think there was a little bit of a disappointment we didn’t get the live game on Sunday.

“It wasn’t to be but we’ve got our rewards and now we’ve got the live game we’ve got to try to focus on giving a good account of ourselves in front of the national television cameras.

“We’ve got to play better than we did on Sunday but we’re capable of that.”

Ticket details are yet to be announced but the City boss is hoping for a bumper crowd at Aggborough.

He said: “If you look at the support we took to Coventry and Scunthorpe, they’ve got to come out and fill the place up now and do their bit to try to get us into that game against Chesterfield.”
