TROY Deeney is aiming to fire Watford into the Premier League and he is doing it with the help of younger brother and Worcester City captain Ellis.

When not playing for the Blue and Whites, Ellis is taking his qualifications to become a personal trainer and striker Troy is one of his clients.

It is a partnership that is paying dividends with Troy currently the nine-goal leading marksman for the Hornets, who are fifth in the Championship.

Ellis, who enjoys the support of his sibling at Aggborough when Watford aren’t in action, will also be hoping to be part of his own promotion push with City in Vanarama Conference North, which continues at home to Bradford Park Avenue tomorrow (3pm).

He said: “Troy works extremely hard even after he has done all his Watford training — he wants to be strong and get to the Premier League, he never stops.

“He knew he had to step it up. I train every day at home and earn some money personal training, a lot of cross training — and he asked if I would train him.

“As a footballer and athlete you can push him harder than some of the people you work with at the gym.

“I have to admit with him being my older brother I do give him some stick and make him suffer a bit.”

Since arriving at Worcester in January 2012, Ellis has gone from strength to strength after being switched from left-back to central midfield. He said: “It was a very harsh reality check when I was let go by Aston Villa, I was there from the age of seven to 20 – and you are so well looked after you don’t realise.

“You’re out there, having trials, being told by clubs I was a risk because I was young. It is the real side of football, you’re desperate for people to take a risk with you.

“I went to Kettering, Hinckley, and even here at Worcester the manager took a big chance signing me.”
