ASSISTANT manager Matt Gardiner says Worcester City have to address their lack of goals after coming up short against Bradford Park Avenue.

The Blue and Whites have not scored since December 20 following the 1-0 home defeat.

Only one team have scored fewer than City’s 25 goals in Conference North this season — Brackley Town on 22.

“If you look at the goals for column, it speaks for itself. We’ve got to do more as a team,” Gardiner said.

“We created more opportunities but didn’t convert and we haven’t scored now for five games, including the Hednesford game that was cancelled.

“Is it unlucky or is it systematic of what we’ve got to be looking at?

“As a team, we have got to do better. We have got to do more in the final third.

“When you play a team in the bottom three who are fighting for their lives, the longer they stay in the game the more their belief grows — and they got a goal to hang on to.

“We were trying to win the game but just couldn’t get the ball over the line.

“I am very disappointed because Aggborough was a bit of a fortress for us in 2014.

“Ironically, out of the last few games, we probably created the most chances.

“Not taking anything away from Bradford, they got the result, but we should have done more. Moving the ball on that pitch is difficult if you go a goal behind but we should have scored earlier on to put them away.

“The movement was better but the execution was the problem.”

Left-back Tyler Weir limped off with an ankle injury in the second-half and City are waiting to see how long he will be out for.

Gardiner added: “Hopefully, it’s not too serious. It’s not looking too good at the moment as he can’t walk on it, which is a bit of a worry.”
