WORCESTER City attacking midfielder Sean Geddes is targeting 25 goals this season.

The ex-Manchester United trainee has worked hard on his fitness over the summer and wants to eclipse last season’s 17.

Geddes hopes to rekindle his partnership with new City striker Ryan ‘Rhino’ Rowe, who he played with at Stourbridge.

“When I was at Stourbridge I scored 28 goals in my second season and 24 the season before,”

said Geddes. “I got 17 for City last season and my target for this season is 25.

“I know it won’t be easy, particularly from midfield, but I want to challenge myself and can’t wait for the new season to start.

“We have got some good players in the squad and they will help me to reach the target.”

Geddes was an influential player in City’s outstanding FA Cup run last term and scored a Rabona goal in the FA Trophy, which was viewed more than 12million times.

He believes Rowe, who has joined City after spending last season with Brackley Town, is an outstanding new addition.

Geddes said: “I was at Stourbridge with Rhino for two years. We know each other quite well and it’s an excellent signing for the club.

He’s got good strength, can hold off players and works very hard.

“One important quality he’s got is that he knows where the net is. We didn’t have a player like Rhino last season and it’s a huge boost because he’s a good finisher.

“He’s a good lad on the field and a good person to have in the changing room because he is funny and will make everyone laugh.”

Geddes has shed a stone-and-a-half during the close-season and plans to do a half-marathon in Birmingham in October.

“I’ve just had my best season in football and if we can achieve what we did last term, it would be brilliant,” he added.

“I am looking forward to all the games in National League North and am hoping the hard work over the summer will pay dividends.”
