Worcester (4-4-2)
7 Vaughan – Unfazed throughout and his return to the side brought with it calmness and assurance. Never looked like being beaten.
7 Weir – Rarely looked in danger and battled through the pain barrier after picking up a second-half injury.
7 Gudger – Slotted in at left-back and looked like he’d been playing there all his career. Solid and reliable.
7 Morris – Rose to the occasion and appeared to benefit from having the experienced Sharpe alongside him.
8 SHARPE – Was the star turn in an excellent back four. Led by example and coped admirably with the experienced Kayode Odejayi.
7 Elvins – Impressive defensively and his reading of the game was outstanding. Regularly tracked back to keep tabs on Stockport’s runners.
5 Nti – Looked a little ill-suited to City’s more defensive line-up. Little chance to push forward and had no joy against his marker.
5 Deeney – Another who struggled with City’s 4-4-2 set-up. Out wide on the left there was little opportunity to get his passing game going.
6 Hughes – A bright debut and always looked a threat. The former Oldham man was booed from the start by the Stockport faithful but had silenced them by the end.
6 Todorov – Excellent in the air and he used his aerial presence in both attack and defence. Still adapting.
7 Jackman – Was asked to show his defensive duties in the heart of midfield and performed well. Applauded off the pitch when substituted by the fans of his former club.
SUBS: Gater (Jackman 76, 5), R Rowe (Todorov 82), J Rowe (Morris 90+2). Not used: Nash, Lloyd-Weston.
