WORCESTER City were making FA Cup headlines last season for their giant-killing of Coventry City.

Now joint manager Carl Heeley is keen for his side not to make the headlines for all the wrong reasons as they head to cup minnows Holbeach United tomorrow.

“If there’s any club in this competition who knows anything about shocks then it is Worcester City,” he admitted.

“We were on the other side of it last year and are aware of what it can mean.

“It doesn’t matter what league you play in, the cup is special and upsets happen.”

Worcester will head to United Counties League side Holbeach knowing they can take nothing for granted.

They have certainly done their homework, having the Lincolnshire outfit watched three times since the draw for the second qualifying round was made.

Heeley added: “They are a well organised side and they don’t concede many goals apart from in their last game which was a bit of a blip.

“They also have one or two players who have plied their trade at a higher level so we know it won’t be an easy game.

“We have to go there and do the job professionally. We will need to match their endeavour and hope that the better standard of players will tell in the end.

“But we know that when you are playing a team from a higher level then you want to prove yourselves and cause an upset – you go out and play without fear.”

Last season’s cup run, that took City into the second round before losing on penalties to Scunthorpe United, means there could be added pressure on City this season.

“The expectations are only there because people want us to repeat the run we had last year,” Heeley added.

Goalkeeper Dan Lloyd-Weston remains side-lined with the shoulder injury that kept him out of last Saturday’s 3-0 win at Corby Town.

That is likely to mean James Severn keeps his place with Nathan Vaughan on the bench.

The only fresh injury concern surrounds Lee Hughes’ hamstring.

The striker came off on Saturday as a precaution but Heeley is hopeful that a week’s rest will have allowed Hughes time to recover.

Holbeach’s 11-match unbeaten run came to an end in midweek when they lost 5-0 to Boston Town in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy.
