A YOUTHFUL Worcester Warriors side went down 40- 21 to Saracens at Bramley Road in an a pre-season development clash.

A Will Fraser score and a penalty try gave Saracens an 18-9 lead at the break, with Ryan Lamb adding all of the visitors’ points from the boot.

Sam Ripper-Smith’s debut try cancelled out Dave Porecki’s effort shortly after the break, before Ben Earl put some daylight between the sides following a well-worked attack.

Josh Adams, who enjoyed a fine debut, gave Warriors hope late on before Jackson Wrap secured victory for Saracens.

There was a fresh look to the Warriors team as Adams, Gareth Milasinovich, Ripper-Smith and Zac Xiourouppa were named in the starting line-up for their debuts.

The visitors were awarded a penalty within a minute of kick-off, allowing Lamb to give his side an early lead.

But Saracens were off the mark less than 60 seconds later as Ben Spencer struck the hosts’ first penalty to level the scores.

Lamb added a second penalty but Saracens claimed the first try.

After making good ground down the right, the ball was switched across the backline before Tom Griffiths teed-up Fraser, who finished from close range.

Lamb was kicking well from hand as he looked to get Warriors on the attack and he gave his side a 9-8 lead with his third penalty.

But Spencer was pulling the strings for the home side and soon kicked into touch as Saracens looked to drive over in the corner. Saracens forced a penalty try to take a 15-9 lead.

Ben Howard was in attacking form as he started a War - riors move before Adams and Luke Baldwin exchanged passes. Sam Smith was halted just shy of the try-line.

Spencer increased the hosts’ lead to 18-9 at the break courtesy of a monster penalty kick.

Saracens stretched their lead as Wray put in hooker Porecki, who bundled his way over and they added another three points from the boot of Spencer.

Warriors were rewarded as Ripper-Smith found space and forced his way to the corner to cut the deficit to 28-14.

The hosts illustrated their class as Earls grounded following work from a lineout.

Warriors replied instantly as Adams found space on the left before racing to the line.

Jamie Shillcock provided the conversion from the touchline as Warriors closed the gap to 33-21.

But Saracens wrapped up victory as Wray dived over the line before Tom Whiteley converted.
