JOINT-manager Carl Heeley insists points are the only thing that matter to Worcester City as they aim to secure a valuable victory over Bradford Park Avenue tonight (7.45pm).

City are two points above the relegation zone in Vanarama National League North after seven draws in nine matches.

Despite their lowly league position, Worcester have gone toe-to-toe with leaders Solihull Moors and North Ferriby United in their last two games and held them to 2-2 and 3-3 draws respectively.

But Heeley knows victories can take his side to the brink of safety and wants his players to go all out for three points at Aggborough.

“I don’t care about performances now,” said Heeley, whose side also host mid-table former Football League club Stockport County on Saturday (3pm).

“It is about getting points on the board and it does not matter how we get them and who we get them against.

“We have got two home games now and have got to try to get points from those.

“We have got two games in hand on Brackley, who are below us, so we have got to make sure we get something from our next two home games. If we do, then we will be absolutely fine.”

Heeley added: “I don’t think there has really been a lack of belief and confidence as it has just been quite a frustrating season.

“But hopefully we can get over the line.”

Midfielder Shaun Donnellan is unavailable after playing for West Bromwich Albion under 21s against Aston Villa yesterday, while Worcester also find themselves light on centre-back options.

Heeley revealed Wayne Thomas was unlikely to recover in time to face Avenue and Tom Sharpe, who was forced off against Ferriby last Saturday with a tight calf, has also been ruled out.

This means Heeley and joint-boss Matt Gardiner will have a choice of playing either Clayton McDonald or Kieran Morris alongside Alex Gudger.

“Wayne is still feeling his back. He is not going to be available until Saturday, so losing Sharpey is another blow,” Heeley said.

“We left Kieran Morris out of the 16 at North Ferriby because there was a reasonably good chance he could have to play tonight.

“He jarred his shoulder in training last Thursday evening, so big Clayton has gone in there (as substitute for Sharpe) and done really well against Tom Denton.

“Sharpey has a tight calf and is going to be struggling for tonight, so we will have a choice of either Kieran or Clayton.”

Bradford have picked up their form in recent weeks, having defeated Chorley and Harrogate Town before losing 2-1 to leaders Solihull Moors at the weekend.

But Heeley said City are determined to chalk up a much-needed victory.

“Any win now will be huge, so hopefully we can get the three points we need against Bradford,” Heeley added.
