WORCESTER City Supporters' Trust will be airing their “save the club” proposals at an open meeting next week.

Rich Widdowson says the trust will be making a presentation on a new ownership model which will keep Worcester City FC alive.

The meeting, open to all Worcester City shareholders and trust members, is on Thursday, June 23 at the Archdale’s Club from 7.30pm.

A general meeting for shareholders to discuss and vote on the club’s future constitution was requested by the trust.

That meeting has been set for Thursday, July 7, at 7pm although no venue has been specified.

The Trust’s proposed amendments to the club constitution include the removal of a restriction on anyone owning more than one per cent of the company and allowing current shareholders to gift their shares to the trust.

Widdowson said: “The open meeting next week is about the future of the club.

“It’s a meeting for the shareholders - the people who can vote at the general meeting next month.

“There will be a short presentation on how we see the club going forward and, most importantly, it will give people an opportunity to ask questions.

“We are just delighted to have an opportunity to talk about it.

“We have been planning for this for a long time and we are well prepared. We can’t wait to be open and honest and speak to people.”

The trust believe a new model will keep City, who have about £530,000 left in the bank and are ground-sharing with Bromsgrove Sporting, alive.

Widdowson said: “We want people to put us on the spot and ask us what we know.

“People might have heard things down the pub but we want to be open and clear and this is the chance for them to ask us directly rather than relying on rumours.

“We are proposing there will be one membership one vote.

"It’s up to the shareholders to decide what the club does but the trust believe what they are putting forward is the best idea to save the club.”
