BROMSGROVE Sporting are in mourning after the death of chairman Jon Prescott.
The club revealed the sad news on social media.
Prescott, 68, took over at the helm from John Teece at the start of last season.
But he had previously been groundsman and a founder member of Sporting.
Prescott had also been a director at Worcester City between 1994 and 2009.
Mike Davis, who has recently stepped down from City's board, said the news of Prescott's death came as an "awful shock".
"I have known Jon for about 40 years and we had a really good relationship," Davis said.
"It is a sad loss to Bromsgrove because I know he put a tremendous amount of work in to getting that club off the ground."
Davis described Prescott as a "jovial character" who was keen to help City after offering them the chance to play at the Victoria Ground.
"I think he had a genuine desire to do something for Worcester City despite all the differences in the past and the bad feelings that have existed," Davis added.
