MANAGER Carl Heeley has vowed to resolve Worcester City’s goalkeeping dilemma as he continues to his access his options.

Former Tamworth stopper Raajan Gill became the fourth man to go in between the sticks for City in pre-season when he started against Redditch in midweek.

And Heeley said he was still working to find a player to take on the number one jersey vacated by Nathan Vaughan.

“We are looking at goalkeepers and there are a couple of things in the pipeline," he said.

“We are keeping as many options open and as many irons in the fire as we can.”

Former Alfreton Town keeper Nick Draper, ex-Birmingham City youngster Leighton Smith and Alex Connell, who was playing for Haverfordwest County last term, have also been on trial.

Despite City’s problems in goal, midfielder Danny Jackman feels his team are shaping up well defensively, especially having re-signed centre-back Graham Hutchison.

“We have got a good blend of youth and experience in defence,” said Jackman, who filled in at left-back at times last season.

"Once we get our goalkeeper we can start working together as a back five and try to get a nice, strong spine of the team."

“I think we’ve got that with Hutch and Sharpy (Tom Sharpe) so if you follow that with a goalie, we should be OK.”
