ATTACKING midfielder Sean Geddes has been snapped up by Hednesford Town after Worcester City asked him to find another club.

The 24-year-old arrived at City in June hoping to return to his best after leaving the club midway through last season to join Stourbridge.

But the Manchester United trainee now finds himself playing in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League again after Hednesford manager Liam McDonald came calling.

The former Redditch United boss said he was delighted to capture Geddes who impressed during a pre-season friendly against Mansfield Town last week.

“I’m really excited to be able to bring Sean to Keys Park,” McDonald said.

“He is a very good football player and over the years I have been an admirer of his.

“To be able to work with him is not only good for me but also for him.

“It is a great signing for us as we had to beat off quite a few other clubs from higher up the leagues and we delighted to get him here.”

Geddes made his league debut for Hednesford on Saturday, but it was another former City player who stole the show.

Forward Tristian Dunkley, who left Worcester in the summer, struck twice in the second half as the Pitmen defeated AFC Rushden and Diamonds 2-0.

Other ex-Worcester players in action on Saturday included defender Alex Gudger who helped Brackley Town hold Tamworth to a goalless draw and right-back Sam Minihan who played 79 minutes of Stockport's 4-3 win over Alfreton Town.

In Vanarama National League, goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan watched on from the bench as Solihull Moors saw off Sutton United 3-1, while Dan Nti was suspended for York City's opening day 1-1 draw with Maidstone United.

Elsewhere, Kyle Perry featured in Stafford Rangers’ 2-1 victory over Leek Town in the Mike Hughes Memorial Shield.
