FRUSTRATIONS are mounting over the number of red cards Worcester City are accumulating but manager Carl Heeley insists they are “not a dirty side”.

Graham Hutchison was given his marching orders in the closing stages of their 3-0 win at Bradford Park Avenue when he picked up a second yellow card.

The centre-back joins Cieron Keane, Lee Hughes, Ebby Nelson-Addy and Junior English in seeing red in the opening 10 games of their Vanarama National League North campaign.

Last term, Worcester racked up 12 dismissals and Heeley said he was disappointed to see his side receive “cheap” cards at the start of this season.

“Looking at the red cards, it is a frustrating thing because you can see we are not a dirty side at all,” he said.

“But they are cheap red cards, which are quite frustrating, and that’s the only blotch on the day.

“But it is what it is and we will take the win.”

Heeley said he also had “no arguments” with the sending off of Hutchison, who will now miss City’s FA Cup clash against AFC Telford United at the Victoria Ground on Saturday (3pm).

“It’s only a one-game suspension, so it is not going to impact on us too much,” said Heeley, whose 14th-placed side travel to Brackley Town on Tuesday night (7.45pm).

“But he will miss the FA Cup game against Telford.

“He has probably made two fouls in the whole game and got booked for both of them, so you get away with some.

“But the second one is a booking for me and I have not got any arguments with it.

“By the letter of the law, they are two bookings and it is a sending off.”

The red card took the gloss of what Heeley described as their “best performance of the season” at the Horsfall Stadium as Hughes, Keane and Chekaine Steele got on the scoresheet.

“We always looked like we could score goals but we weren’t ruthless enough and were conceding sloppy goals at the other end,” he said “But on Saturday we were much better and, for me, that was our best performance of the season.”
