RESURGENT Worcester City will be determined to silence their doubters when they take on in-form Brackley Town tonight (7.45pm), according to Cieron Keane.

The left-sided player claims there are sides in Vanarama National League North who think City will “roll over and die”.

But after back-to-back wins, including a 3-0 success at bottom side Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday, Keane believes they are starting to prove them wrong.

Seventh-placed Brackley are unbeaten in their last six games and will provide a stern test for City at St James Park.

However, the former Notts County full-back is confident his side, who have climbed to 14th place, can “beat anyone on their day”.

“I think a lot of teams look at us and think, ‘It’s Worcester, we will beat them',” said Keane, who joined the Blue and Whites in the summer.

“But we are starting to show we are not going to roll over and die as easily as people think.

“We have got more talent than people give us credit for and we can win more games than they believe we are capable of “When we turn up to Brackley, they will probably think, ‘We are going to beat these’, but that works to our advantage.

“We are not the underdog because we are not a bad team but they are up towards the top of the table looking down on us, so I think, if we work hard, we can hopefully come away with three points.”

Midfielder Junior English is suspended, while defender James Chambers is expected to be rested for City’s FA Cup clash against AFC Telford United on Saturday as he recovers from his hamstring strain.

Keane, who scored a stunning free-kick against Avenue at the weekend, admitted Worcester had changed their perspective since ending their winless streak with a 5-3 victory over Alfreton Town last week.

“In the changing room before the game (on Saturday), everyone seemed a lot more chilled,” said the 20-year-old, who has moved to left midfield in recent games.

“Not a lot was said by the management before kick-off. They just said, ‘We have won the last game, we have got a lot of confidence, so kick on, beat these and move further up the table', whereas in previous games it’s been, ‘Let’s cut out the errors, don’t do this and don’t do that’.

“But that doesn’t need to be said now as we have started to build on performances and pick up results.”

Keane added: “It’s great to get two wins on the trot as it’s been a long time coming.

“We were unlucky at the start of the season as we kept losing but hopefully we can go on a run now.”
