BOSS Carl Heeley is hopeful of extending goalkeeper Ryan Boot’s stay at Worcester City after securing his third successive clean sheet.

Since Boot arrived on an initial one-month loan from League One side Port Vale, City have tightened up at the back.

The 21-year-old has yet to concede a goal as Worcester beat Bradford Park Avenue 3-0, defeated Brackley Town 2-0 and drew 0-0 against AFC Telford United in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday.

His deal is due to end at the beginning of next month and Heeley has vowed to try to keep the talented stopper, who has previously had two spells at the club.

“He is a good goalkeeper and we really rate him,” he said.

“As long as Port Vale want to do business which I don’t see any reason why they wouldn’t then we will look to extend it.”

Boot joined the Vanarama National League North outfit after Heeley admitted he was “not overly convinced” by Ethan Ross and Nick Draper, the other senior goalkeepers on City's books.

“Ryan just makes consistent decisions,” he said.

“He comes and takes balls that help out take the pressure off the back four and that’s brilliant to have as a defender.”

Heeley said he was also pleased to shut out Telford as he revealed left-back Tyler Weir was “not 100 per cent fit”, while experienced centre-back Sam Oji replaced the suspended Graham Hutchison.

“There are positive signs that we are keeping clean sheets now and hopefully we can keep that trend going,” added Heeley, whose side face Telford in a replay at the New Bucks Head tomorrow night (7.45pm).
