MANAGER Carl Heeley admits he has “no reason to change” Worcester City’s winning formula as they bid to extend their impressive run of form.

They host Nuneaton Town today (3pm) aiming to secure their fifth victory in seven matches and finish the month unbeaten.

Having made signings on the eve of the new season, Heeley admitted he struggled to find the “right formation” for his side as they went eight games without a win.

But, since switching to 4-4-2 at the start of this month, City’s boss said he now had a settled group who “knew their jobs”.

“We were searching for the right combination of players and formation but that (4-4-2) looks like it is working for us and we will stick with it,” he said.

“There is no real reason to change it. They know their jobs and that takes time when you have got a new squad every summer.

“But the lads want to be here and you can see that as they are working really hard for each other. We can’t ask any more from them. They have been terrific.”

Heeley urged his players to keep their “great run” going against a Nuneaton side who have also climbed the table recently.

Boro also got off a slow start but in their last three league games have denied in-form Darlington 1883 and Gloucester City all three points and thumped Altrincham 4-1.

“Nuneaton have started to pick up, so rest assured that will be a tough game,” Heeley said.

“We believe we can win but have got to keep applying ourselves like we have been doing and then we will be fine.”

Left-sided Cieron Keane and midfielder Junior English were replaced in City’s 3-1 win at AFC Telford United in the FA Cup on Tuesday after appearing to sustain knocks.

But Heeley said the duo would be “fine” for today, while captain Danny Jackman is also expected to return to the first XI after being an unused substitute in midweek.

“Danny has been unbelievable for us since he has come into the side but he has been looking a little tired, so we freshened it up as it’s about winning the next game,” Heeley said.

“We knew we would be playing against an extra man in midfield (against Telford) and I just felt Junior’s and Ebby’s (Nelson-Addy) energy would be able to combat that more.

“But the main reason he came out was because we was tired and he is an honest enough pro to hold his hands up and say that.”

Heeley also revealed experienced defender James Chambers, who has not featured since City’s 2-2 draw with Gainsborough Trinity earlier this month, was still on the comeback trail.

“It’s a grade one (hamstring) tear, so it’s taken three to four weeks,” he said. “But he should be back in full training next week.”
