THE “fame and fortune” attached to the Emirates FA Cup makes Brackley Town a “totally different” proposition for Worcester City in the third qualifying round today (3pm), insists assistant boss John Snape.

Just over two weeks ago, City produced an impressive display to beat in-form Northamptonshire side Brackley 2-0 at St James Park in Vanarama National League North.

However, with prize money and a chance of getting within one victory of a possible plum tie against a Football League side at stake, Snape says Worcester are anticipating a big test at the Victoria Ground.

“It will be a totally different game,” said Snape, whose side have got to at least the first round in the past two seasons.

“It’s the FA Cup and it’s something that everyone wants to progress in.

“There is fame and fortune at the end of it for all our players, who want to play at a high level and be tested.

“They have got to get past Brackley to give themselves a fighting chance but I expect them to rise to the challenge.”

Snape said Worcester must improve their defending of set-pieces following their 3-2 league loss to Midlands rivals Nuneaton Town last Saturday.

“You can’t let people go free in your box. You have got to go and compete,” he said.

“We have conceded too many goals from set-plays, so that’s something we have looked at.

“We are looking forward to the game and the lads all want to put the disappointment of Saturday’s defeat behind them.”

After seven games in a busy September, Snape admits they have suffered “a few bumps and bruises”.

Former Solihull Moors stalwart Junior English did not play last weekend due a back problem, left-sided player Cieron Keane hurt his ankle in the game and midfielder Ebby Nelson-Addy also appears to be struggling with fatigue.

But Snape expects the trio to be available, while experienced former West Bromwich Albion defender James Chambers, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, is likely to be ruled out again.

“Chambo is still having treatment,” Snape added.

“I don’t feel he’ll be involved due to the fact the other players have done well and he has still got a bit of an injury.

“Junior did a light session on Tuesday, so we will assess him again.

“Cieron has knocked his ankle and Ebby is tight but I know they all want to play.”
