TOUGH-tackling midfielder Richard Batchelor has left Worcester City after struggling to get enough game-time to “build up his match fitness”.

Batchelor joined the Blue and Whites from Vanarama National League North rivals Brackley Town in the summer.

But following a family bereavement, the 27-year-old spent much of pre-season in the Caribbean and struggled to nail down a starting spot when he returned.

He has made 10 appearances this term, with his last six coming as a substitute, including playing the final 30 minutes of City’s 3-0 defeat to Brackley in the Emirates FA Cup at the weekend.

However, the club revealed after a discussion with manager Carl Heeley, it was felt “in the best interests of all parties” he departed City.

A club spokesman said: “Richard needs to play regular games of football which will build up his match fitness.

“Worcester City Football Club would like to wish Batch all the best for the future and we thank him for his time at the club.”
