SUPPORTERS have taken to social media tonight to pay tribute to Carl Heeley, who has stepped down as manager of Worcester City after seven years.

Heeley’s own daughter, Chloe Heeley, gave her thanks to everyone at City “who believed in him”.

Here are some of the comments:

Absolutely gutted he's gone.

Jem Pitt

I’ve suggested to Carl that he takes a break from football and gets an allotment. However, Vicky (his wife) has got him lined up for six months worth of painting.

A break from football is just what he needs. Carl leaves with his head held high. As always, a man of honesty, integrity and class.

City were poor versus Gloucester, but after seven years I think Heeley deserved slightly better off some of the Worcester support.

Chloe Heeley

Thank you to everyone at Worcester who believed in him and made all those memories great! Wish everyone involved in the club all the best for the future.

Ryan Buckley

What a man he is. Thanks for everything Carl.

Bob from Arbroath

I’m sure it’s not a decision he made easily. Maybe a break from the game will do him good. I would like to thank him for the hard work he’s put into the job and wish him well for the future. Those magical few weeks in late 2014 will never be forgotten by supporters.

To paraphrase Casablanca, “we’ll always have The Ricoh.”

I would suspect (hope) there are one or two slightly embarrassed City players right now.

Best of luck in the future Carl with whatever you do. Thanks for your efforts in keeping us in this league. I'm not sure anyone can do better with the present state of th club.

The Imposter

Thanks for your loyalty to the football club Carl, your enthusiasm and passion will be missed. To those who directed abuse at you - you've got your wishes.....

I am sad that he has moved on from a City footballing perspective. He gave us some wonderful memories under the most trying of circumstances. I for one appreciated what he did keeping the club at this level was success. I wish him and his family well.
And very best wishes to John and Danny, big shoes to fill.
And a big fat raspberry to all the moaners.

Sad to hear Carl Heeley has left Worcester City. He did a great job under difficult circumstances. If only he had a decent board to back him.

Carl Heeley has left Worcester City. So we now have no ground and no manager. I fear that come the end of the season WCFC will be no more.

Nick Bawden

I think it's the right decision for himself and the club. Good luck in the future. Amazing memories from Coventry and Scunthorpe for all city fans. Carl has tried his best, especially under the circumstances, and although I admit I have questioned many of his decisions and tactics, he does love the club, but we do need to try something different. If it doesn't work then so be it.

Sarah Beaudro

A legend for the Club who gave us some great memories as a player and manager but definitely time for a change. I fear for the future of the Club, something needs to be done and quick otherwise WCFC will be no more.

Andy Bell

Carl is Worcester City - pretty much the last man left who deeply cares about our once proud club. With him gone what is left? True legend. A sad day. Thanks for all you have done and all those memories.

Alun Morgan

Thank you Carl for everything you have done for the club.....You are a legend and I wish you and your family the very best for the future.Hope to see you at Ombersley Golf club sometime too.

Jez Cole

Gutted, what a legend! He really worked hard. Thanks for the best moment in the clubs recent history beating Coventry at the Ricoh Arena. My family will never forget that day. Good luck for the future.

Calvin Lenton
