WORCESTER City crashed 3-0 at Harrogate Town today in their first game since the exit of top scorer Lee Hughes to relegation rivals AFC Telford United.

John Snape and Danny Jackman continued in caretaker control during a chaotic period for cash-strapped City who have made every player available for transfer.

And the visitors could not stop the mid-table North Yorkshire side after a long trip for the Vanarama National League North clash.

The result left City level on points with Bradford Park Avenue, who thrashed Gainsborough Trinity 5-1, and therefore only out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

On a bitterly cold afternoon Simon Ainge put hosts Harrogate ahead in the 10th minute by placing a low cross underneath keeper Ethan Ross.

City, without winger Micah Evans after his move to Altrincham the previous evening, held out then in a scrappy clash until the 67th minute.

Danny Ellis headed in a corner before in the 74th minute Louie Swain pounced on a deflection and fired the third goal into the bottom corner.

Meanwhile, Hughes scored the equaliser for Telford in a 1-1 draw at leaders AFC Fylde.
