THERE are “plans behind the scenes” which will be “released” by Worcester City’s board, according to caretaker boss John Snape.

City’s chiefs are “reviewing all aspects” of the National League North strugglers, including their “future viability”.

So far all players have been put up for transfer as the cash-strapped club bid to “protect the remaining funds”.

And Snape, who has been put in temporary charge while City search for a new manager, indicated more news was set to be unveiled by Worcester’s under-fire directors.

“I have obviously spoken with the chairman (Anthony Hampson) over the last few days and (football secretary) Joe Murphy,” he said.

“They have both been brilliant and honest. There are a few plans behind the scenes which will be released by the board themselves so everyone knows where we are.”

City lost 3-0 at Harrogate Town on Saturday to extend their winless run to 12 league matches.

Snape admitted it was a “difficult time” for 19th-placed City who are level on points with third-from-bottom Bradford Park Avenue.

However, Snape, a former boss of now defunct Bromsgrove Rovers, insisted he was “totally on board” with the club’s cost cutting.

Last week striker Lee Hughes joined relegation rivals AFC Telford United and winger Micah Evans signed for basement boys Altrincham.

“We are looking at cutting costs,” Snape said. “That’s our task between now and the end of the season.

“It’s for the stability and future of the football club so I am totally on board with it.

“I will help the board out and anyone else at the club to get through this difficult time.”

Snape has been in charge of struggling City with help from skipper Danny Jackman since Carl Heeley ended his seven-year reign as boss late last month.

The ex-Hereford midfielder has already ruled himself out of the running for the top job but pledged to fight for Worcester’s cause.

“It (the manager's job) is undecided,” he said. “The board have asked me to help. I will do that until they change their minds.

“I am doing it for the club. I have been associated with them for many years and don’t want it to go the wrong way.

“If the club need a new start and a new face at the helm, I have got no problem at all helping anyone who comes in if required.

“But that will be down to a decision from the board.”

Worcester take on fifth-placed FC Halifax Town at Bromsgrove’s Victoria Ground on Saturday (3pm).
