WORCESTER City have fresh injury concerns ahead of their Vanarama National League North clash against out-of-form Boston United at Bromsgrove’s Victoria Ground tomorrow (3pm).

Full-back Tyler Weir has picked up a knee problem and defender Andy Gallinagh is struggling with a neck injury.

Worcester will be without winger Chekaine Steele who has been ruled out with a hamstring strain and there are doubts over the fitness of the experienced James Chambers who missed last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Nuneaton Town with a knee complaint.

Caretaker boss John Snape admitted his injury problems forced City to hold just one training session this week.

He said it was “crucial” he and his assistant Danny Jackman got selection right as they prepare for three games in eight days.

“Due to a few injuries we had the night off on Tuesday but we trained on Thursday night,” he said.

“James trained lightly so we will see how he is but Chekaine is out with a hamstring strain. Andy has got a neck injury which we have got to be very careful with and Tyler has got a knock on his right knee so he did not train as a precaution.”

After facing 15th-placed Boston City will host Brackley Town on Tuesday (7.45pm) and travel to second-from-bottom Stalybridge Celtic the following Saturday (3pm).

“With the amount of games we have got coming up it (selection) is something we need to look at, especially as we are playing Brackley so soon after,” Snape continued.

“We will make a few changes so it is crucial Danny and I get them right.”

Centre-half Graham Hutchison, back from a knee injury, could come into the starting line-up as City look to shut out Boston who feature former striker Colby Bishop.

“Graham was on the bench last Saturday and was fit enough to come on,” Snape said.

“He had lacked training but put some work in over the weekend and on his own on Tuesday with a view to being ready tomorrow.”

Worcester have not won a league game in more than four months but Snape insisted his side were making progress.

They drew 2-2 with Darlington and clinched a point at Nuneaton to climb out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

“There are nine games left and 27 points to play for,” Snape said.

“We want to win every single one of them and we are certainly due three points.

“We have shown progress with the effort and commitment we have given over the last two weeks. Hopefully we can continue that tomorrow and get the holy grail which is that much-needed win.”

The Blue and Whites are also coming up against a Boston side who have lost three of their last four matches, including a 1-0 home defeat to basement side Altrincham last weekend.

Snape added: “We need to start on the offensive and get more of the ball in the first 20 minutes as that will dictate the way the game will go.

“Jordan Murphy has risen to the task in recent weeks so long may that continue but I think Junior English has got a goal in him.

“I think our midfield players are also due a goal so they need to step up to the plate as well.”
