LOAN signing Kuda Muskwe looks set to start up front for Worcester City’s Midlands derby with AFC Telford United at the New Bucks Head Stadium tomorrow (3pm).

The Rotherham United youngster is in line to replace the injured Junior English who is a “major doubt” after suffering a hamstring injury for the National League North clash.

Caretaker boss John Snape fears English has sustained a grade two tear which could keep him out for several weeks.

But Snape said Muskwe has been “finishing well” in training and could give City extra firepower along with forward Jordan Murphy who has scored four goals in his last five games.

English’s injury also opens the door for 16-year-old Callum Devlin who made an impressive cameo in Worcester’s 1-0 away victory over Stalybridge Celtic last Saturday.

“Junior is a major doubt,” Snape said. “It’s probably a grade two hamstring (tear). But he is working hard to get back.

“Kuda is fit and available and has been finishing well in training so that is a bonus.

“The advantage of having Kuda in the side is he is a little different to Junior as he is a lot lighter on his feet and has come in as a goal-scorer.

"That’s why he is at Rotherham and I hope he can get us a few goals between now and the end of the season.

“Callum did well when he came on last weekend so both him and Kuda will be in our thoughts.”

City are also expected to be without Chekaine Steele who is recovering from a hamstring problem.

But the winger will have a late fitness test along with attacking midfielder Ebby Nelson-Addy who has “slightly strained his knee”.

Snape has called up 16-year-old attacking midfielder Ben Tilbury who has been brought into the first-team fold after impressing for Heart of Worcestershire College’s academy side.

Despite the fresh injury concerns Snape insists confidence has been high in the camp after claiming their first league win in more than four months.

And he hopes his side can back it up with another victory as they try to increase their two-point gap on third-from-bottom Gainsborough Trinity who visit Chorley this weekend.

“It has given everyone a lift,” Snape said. “We have always had belief but hopefully that win can give us extra confidence to go on and get some more valuable points.”

But Telford will also be determined to ease their relegation concerns.

The Shropshire side are only two places above City but ended a run of four successive defeats with a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Stalybridge on Tuesday.

They also feature veteran striker Lee Hughes who left City in February after scoring 33 goals in 57 appearances.

“Lee has been absolutely fantastic for the club and is a great friend but we will obviously need to be wary of him,” Snape said.

“It is a local derby and there will be some fireworks so we need to keep our heads and conduct ourselves properly.

“But at the same time I want to make sure we are up for the battle and if we can get it down and play then we will give ourselves a good chance.”
