DEFENDER Tom Sharpe has left Worcester City to join Northern Premier League Division One South outfit Bedworth United.

The former Kidderminster Harriers and Brackley Town ace made 62 appearances in two seasons at Worcester, winning manager’s player of the season award in 2015/16.

Bedworth play a level higher than the Blue and Whites who have dropped three tiers to be in Midland League Premier Division.

But 28-year-old Sharpe said he wanted to be closer to home.

A statement on Bedworth’s website read: “Firstly we would like to welcome new face Tom Sharpe from Worcester City.

“He is a solid defender who was known by all at City as 'Mr Reliable'.

“He lives only 30 minutes from Bedworth along with his family and he wanted to play his football nearer to home.”
