WORCESTER City’s boys continued the youth section’s success by winning the Worcestershire FA Saturday Under 16s Cup 3-1 against rivals Kidderminster Harriers.

City had already won NERF Junior Premier League Area Division Three, missing out on the invincibles tag by one game having wrapped up the title with games to spare.

But the team could not attend the JPL national finals as the tournament clashed with the Worcestershire cup final.

Reigning under 15s county champions City were keen to retain their title but faced a determined Kidderminster team.

Although playing the better football and creating more clear-cut chances City went 1-0 down to a goal from Lewis Collier on the stroke of half-time.

A more focused Worcester team came out in the second half and were soon level when Aaron Brett equalised in the 53rd minute.

With the momentum now with City they took the lead when Brett pounced on a Harriers error in the 58th minute.

Kidderminster tried to come back but the City defence was too strong.

Brett, who made his debut for the Worcester first team from the bench in April, finished off the game with the last kick of the match to secure the win and his hat-trick.

Many of the team played in City’s Midland Floodlit Youth League under 18s side throughout the season.
