WORCESTER City have been drawn away to Daventry Town in the extra preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup.

John Snape’s and Lee Hughes’ men will take on the Northamptonshire side at Communications Park on Saturday, August 5.

Daventry play in the United Counties League Premier Division after securing promotion from Division One last season.

Victory over Town will see Worcester secure a preliminary round tie against Chasetown at Bromsgrove’s Victoria Ground on Saturday, August 19.

City reached the second round of the historic competition in 2014 after stunning Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena and made the first round proper again a year later, facing Sheffield United.

However, after resigning from the National League, Worcester have dropped into the Midland League Premier Division, meaning they have joined 370 clubs to play in the opening round of the FA Cup.

Meanwhile, Malvern Town visit Wolverhampton Casuals with a home tie against either Coventry Sphinx or Boldmere St Michaels awaiting the winner.

Evesham United will travel to Staffordshire to face Newcastle Town in the preliminary round.

The Robins have also been pitted against Cirencester Town in the preliminary round of the FA Trophy at the Jubilee Stadium on Saturday, October 7.
