MANAGER John Snape reckons Worcester City have enough quality to avoid any panic over the departure of fans' favourite Tyler Weir

The 26-year-old right-back stood by the club despite triple relegation over the summer but was lured away by Hednesford Town on Monday.

It was a move that prompted understandable dismay from supporters but Snape was adamant City could get by without altering the club's recruitment plans and also left open the door for Weir' to return.

"Tyler had a lot of interest during the summer but he wanted to stay with the club, he felt obliged and committed to it," said Snape.

"We are very disappointed to lose him. He is one of the best full-backs I have worked with on the non-league circuit but he felt there was opportunity to play higher again and maybe he had a few frustrations at this level.

"I think Tyler has proved his quality year in year out, has been quite adaptable and can be successful higher up.

"With the team spirit we have, I think he still enjoyed it here. Maybe he got a bit frustrated by his own performances at times but Tyler will be a big loss to the club and it is up to me, Lee (Hughes, joint-manager) and the backroom staff to adequately replace him.

"He was full of remorse but said the opportunity might not come again and wanted to take it. Finances did not necessarily come into it, he might have a better deal but that was not top of his list of priorities.

"Tyler goes with our best wishes. Because of the way he conducted himself he would always be welcomed back if it did not work out."

On the prospect of replacing Weir, Snape added: "At the moment our policy would be to look within. Hamilton (Chiwara) played at right-back on Saturday and did quite well, we have another couple of lads coming back from injury who we might look at playing there too.

"There's nothing transfer-wise in or out at the minute, even with Tyler going out. We are always looking but do feel with have enough to go with."
