TODAY'S FA Vase curtain raiser will be something of a reunion for Worcester City's man-of-the-moment Mark Danks.

The 33-year-old hotshot returned to City over the summer from FA Vase second qualifying round opponents Boldmere St Michaels where he had worked under friend and ex-Redditch United striker Stuart Grosvenor.

The injury-plagued Mikes have found form difficult to come by with 32 players used in 10 matches but having worked closely with the talent at Grosvenor's disposal, Danks is taking nothing for granted.

"I was there at the start of the season and the manager remains a good friend of mine," said Danks.

"They have had a lot of injuries but I know how good they can be, especially at home. If they have everyone fit then it will be one of our toughest tests this season."

Danks will be hoping to add to a bumper haul of eight goals in as many starts in all competitions at his old haunt as he bids to repay the faith shown by joint City bosses John Snape and Lee Hughes.

“It can change very quickly so we’ll take it a game at a time," he added. "It is nice to be playing and scoring and it helps when you have the belief of the management and your team-mates.

“In a three-year period I have gone from being the main man to not even getting on the pitch at some former clubs. I am bit older and wiser now in terms of taking each game as it comes.

"Lee has been around, I am very similar to Hughesy and I have known Snapper for a few years. They are getting hold of me, making me more grounded and it has worked well.

"I have massive respect for what they have done. They showed faith in me when no one else would and rekindled my love for the game."
