NATHAN VAUGHAN 6

Little to do but was effective and alert when he had to be in spite of the odd bit of stray distribution.

GEORGE FORSYTH 5

Plenty of effort, as always, but did not seem himself and could have paid the price when caught out twice by Lee Chilton in the second half.

JAMIE SMITH 6

Solid and helped the play moving forward. Got preyed upon when struggling towards the end of the first half.

JORDAN STODDART 7

Battled through after illness, did the ugly side well on a day when pretty football was never likely to make the agenda.

WAYNE THOMAS 7

Was solid like Stoddart while adding a calmness and control to City’s defensive duties. Unlucky not to score.

NATHAN HAYWARD 7

Not everything came off on a tricky pitch but crunched into tackles and assisted colleague Brad Birch in getting City moving.

MAT BIRLEY 6

Industrious without finding his best. Kept plugging away in difficult circumstances.

*STAR MAN – BRAD BIRCH 8

The driving force behind the win. Dogged opponents stifled City's attacking flair but Birch provided the sheer force frequently enough to push his side forwards.

LEE HUGHES 6

Often frustrated by niggly fouls but took his chance when it arrived with a well-taken finish, could have hit the deck in the build up.

MARK DANKS 5

The effort was there but it was not his day. Will undoubtedly have benefited from the minutes as he seeks a return to early-season form.

ALEX TOMKINSON 6

Contributed to a hard-working performance, will hope to add a bit of sparkle to a battling display in the coming matches.
