WORCESTER City director Kevin Preece met with board members of the club’s supporters’ trust on Monday with plans to improve communication top of the agenda.

Chairman Dave Wood approached Preece about attending a board meeting of the trust following Saturday’s 1-0 home victory over Lye Town.

Updates were shared by both parties on their respective quests to secure a new stadium for City in Worcester with the club pursuing a project at Parsonage Way while the independent fans' group looks to overturn the decision not to grant planning permission for a site at Perdiswell.

Preece took over as football secretary in the summer and got appointed to City’s board in November, vowing to try to unite club and trust and deliver an AGM for shareholders.

“I said when I got invited on to the board that I wanted to get people talking again and everyone seemed happy that I went,” said Preece, who is also a member of the trust.

“We shared the latest on Parsonage Way and Perdiswell. The prospect of an AGM came up a few times but it was a positive discussion.

“It was good to sit down with the guys. We need people around the table and one of the big points the trust made was that we needed to communicate more with the supporters, not only the trust. I was asked to report that back to the board and I have.

On future relations, Preece said: “We will take things a step at a time. We have to look to work together for the good of Worcester City and I would be happy to attend future meetings if the trust would like me to.”

Wood was not available for comment prior to the Worcester News going to press yesterday.
