WORCESTER City will play “the strongest side possible” at AFC Wulfrunians despite concerns over the fitness of no fewer than SEVEN players.

Joint-boss and striker Lee Hughes (groin), Jordan Stoddart and Mat Birley (both hamstring) are likely to miss the trip to Wolverhampton tomorrow (7.45).

Top scorer Dave Reynolds (hamstring) and Tyler Weir are rated at 50-50 by manager John Snape, although hopes are high that Alex Tomkinson (dead leg) and James Baldwin (knee) will be fit to play.

City travel to Midland Football League leaders Coleshill Town on Saturday but Snape was adamant that would not affect his midweek selection.

“There are a few lads with bumps and bruises but we have started to catch up with some of the fixtures now and will be aiming to field the strongest side possible,” said Snape.

“It will be a tough game but we will have the lads ready. We are going to learn from the interval we had between winning at Westfields and the loss to Khalsa and will be pushing hard to get three points."

One player who made a welcome return during Saturday’s 1-0 win at Rugby was centre-half Mark Smith.

“He came back in having not started a game since Haughmond away and again, we got a clean sheet," said Snape.

“His coolness on the ball shone through. I hope his legs are ready to go again.”
