WORCESTER City seem set to land the signing of flexible right-sided player Bekir Halil from Hinckley AFC.

Halil, City’s primary target since the departure of winger Josh Sarmento, attended last night's 2-2 draw at AFC Wulfrunians and is expected to complete his transfer later this week.

If the deal does get sealed for the full-back or winger of Turkish descent, he still may not feature in Saturday’s crunch clash at Midland Football League leaders Coleshill Town due to a niggling injury but joint-boss Lee Hughes sees plenty of potential.

“He came along last night to see how it would suit him and has agreed to join up,” said Hughes.

“He can play right-back or right midfield and can get up and down the wing. He is quick with lots of energy and that will give us something we have been missing since Josh Sarmento left.

“Hopefully it will be done and dusted by Saturday but we will have to see how his leg is because he picked up a slight knock recently."

Halil has made 13 starts and four substitute appearances for Midland League Division One Hinckley so far this season, scoring two goals.

Among the many clubs on his CV is Sporting Khalsa where he featured 22 times last season.
