WORCESTER City boss John Snape has high hopes after gaining first call on the services of Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Yannick Gomes.

Portugal-born Gomes, 25, has been training with and playing for the under-23s at Aggborough since signing earlier in the season.

He has had brief spells with Tividale, Rugby Town and North Ferriby United before linking up with Stourbridge once Harriers had drafted him in just past the turn of the year.

Gomes will be contention for tonight’s home clash with Long Eaton United (7.45).

“Firstly, I would like to thank Stourbridge and Highgate United for waiving the seven-day notice period to enable us to sign Yannick,” said Snape.

“He operates from central midfield, has a good pedigree and works daily with Kidderminster so is very fit and agile.

“He wants first-team football between now and the end of the season and hopefully he can have an impact.”

But Gomes will not be joined by the other two players City dual registered yesterday at the Victoria Ground.

Redditch United pair Gowan Stares and Tom Fishwick have also penned terms but their roles will be defined by the Southern League outfit.

“Redditch United has kindly helped us out with these lads but we must emphasise both remain their players,” Snape added.

“They will only participate in our games between now and the end of the season with the green light from Redditch.

“I’d also like to thank Tim Harris (Redditch manager) and the lads themselves.”

The player registration deadline for clubs in the Midland Football League's top two divisions passes at 5pm today. City hope to name one more signing before then.
