THE independent scrutiny of Worcester City's finances is set to get underway after the return of a signed non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to the club's supporters' trust.

The trust issued an open letter, offering the services of chief financial officer of Supporters Direct Nick Igoe to go through the books at no cost to City in order to gauge "the viabililty of the club as a going concern".

Club chairman Anthony Hampson accepted and after some back and forth with the NDA, Igoe is now primed to gather information from City's top brass.

It comes in the build-up to the trust’s members-only annual general meeting (AGM) at Warndon Community Hub, Shap Drive, tomorrow (7.30).

A further meeting is likely once Igoe has reported back to the independent fans’ group.

“Once we have that report, we can get together some concrete proposals to put to the membership,” said trust secretary Rob Crean.

“It would be presumptuous to put alternatives to members before we see the outcome of the report but it is encouraging to reach the point where that report can be created.

“It is a great leap forward and shows trust between the club and the supporters.

"It has happened quite quickly, these things can drag on but everyone has acted swiftly which is a good thing.”

Once procedural matters are out of the way, the trust’s board will take questions from members at the AGM.
