GEORGE Forsyth believes Boldmere St Michael’s artificial surface will play to Worcester City’s strengths as they bid to see off their “horrible” opponents today (3pm).

The versatile City star said Boldmere “came to stink the place out” in a “horrendous” 0-0 draw at the Victoria Ground three weeks ago.

And Forsyth is determined not to see a repeat of that stalemate when they visit the Sutton Coldfield side in the Midland League Premier Division this afternoon.

The Mikes installed a 3G pitch at Church Road in 2016 but Forsyth reckons this could count against the hosts when they come up against fourth-placed Worcester.

“They are a horrible side," Forsyth said.

"They are set up well by their manager and came to stink the place out.

“That was probably the worst game I have played in all season. It was horrendous.

“Fair play to them because they knew if they opened up that would suit us but they have got a 3G pitch so we can probably get the ball down and play.

“We did it (in a 1-0 win) at Coleshill so hopefully we can use that to our advantage again and try to get a win there.”

Boldmere, who sit in 14th position, also came close to knocking City out of the FA Vase in September as they were edged out 4-3 in extra-time at Church Road.

“We have got to try to break them down and capitalise when we are on top and make our chances count,” Forsyth said.

“When we do that we are one of the best teams in this league.

“We know that as we showed it at Long Easton. We had five shots that day and scored all five of them but we have not done that enough this season.”

Forsyth said he and his team-mates were “gutted” after losing 2-1 to table-toppers Bromsgrove Sporting on Tuesday night.

The defeat saw Worcester slip to fourth position but with six points separating themselves and second-placed Coleshill Town the 21-year-old is refusing to give up on promotion.

“We have got to keep going as stranger things have happened,” Forsyth said.

“There are six games left so if we win every one of those I still think we have got a chance. we have got to keep believing.

“The appetite is still there as you can see by the attitude and work-rate of the players.

“We have just got to push on when we put teams under pressure.

“In the second half (against Bromsgrove) we were on top but were not able to capitalise on it.

“That’s where we have got to find that extra gear which we have got.”
