City take on Walsall work-out

6:01pm Tuesday 15th July 2008

WORCESTER City can expect another tough test tonight when Walsall visit St George’s Lane for a pre-season friendly (7.45).

Richard Dryden’s side take on the League One Saddlers as City continue to step up their preparations for the new Blue Square South season.

Walsall, managed by former Broms-grove manager Jimmy Mullen, are ex-pected to bring their first-team squad including former Charlton trainee Ishmel Demontagnac who scored twice in a 3-0 victory at Hednesford on Saturday.

City are likely to start with the side that began the second-half of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Cheltenham, another League One outfit, and save new signings Jon Richardson, Ollie Barnes and Dave Bampton for after the interval.

“I’ve heard Walsall are going to bring a very strong side down,” manager Dryden said. “A lot of the players who started the first-half will start the second-half and vice-versa. Some people will play 45 minutes, some might step up to 60.

“Again, I’m not really too concerned about the result but if we can get a performance like Saturday I’ll be pleased. I think if people saw how well we played for 75 minutes they would have been quite pleased.”
