A COMPRISE for a new board of directors at Worcester City has broken down with both parties blaming each other.
Members of the Shareholders Action Group along with City chairman Dave Boddy and club president Dr Mike Sorensen met last week to broker a deal for a new board at St George’s Lane with former Northampton Town chairman Barry Ward coming in to take the reins.
In a statement released by the action group, they claim a deal had been made that Ward would head the new board with current directors Simon Williams, Celia Adams and Boddy staying on with former director Derek Jones returning and an elected representative from the proposed supporters trust taking up the final seat.
However, its seems that a timescale on the new board was put in place and that has now elapsed.
Boddy says that they want to meet with Ward again, while the action group want the current board to tender their resignation with the exception of Sorensen and Celia Adams.
“The comprise was not rejected,” Boddy said.
“It is true that we have not met with their timescale, but because of the importance of the decision we felt that we needed further time with Barry to make the right decision and we have invited him to meet up with us again on Wednesday.”
A statement released by the action group, who are due to meet again tomorrow night, said: “After attending the board meeting he [Ward] went home to await a phone call from Mike Sorensen to the say the comprise had been agreed. That call never came.”
