MID-DAY tomorrow is the new deadline for Worcester City’s board of directors to accept the compromise deal proposed by the Shareholders Action Group.

The proposal appeared to have broken down earlier this week when the St George’s Lane club’s current board failed to meet the timescale for a decision set out by the action group.

However, Shareholders Action Group member Paul Curtis, a former City director, said a decision had been agreed to extend the deadline until noon tomorrow.

If accepted, the compromise would see former Northampton Town chairman Barry Ward taking over from Dave Boddy as chairman.

The rest of the board would include current directors Simon Williams, Celia Adams and Boddy staying on with former director Derek Jones returning and an elected representative of the proposed supporters trust in the final seat.

Curtis said: “Members of the Shareholders Action Group, Barry Ward and representatives of the Supporters’ Club and Supporters’ Trust were at last night’s meeting. We all have the football club’s best interests at heart.

“We went through where we stand now and what action we should take. As there was set to be a board meeting tonight, it was decided to extend the deadline until mid-day tomorrow. I put this proposal in writing to Dave Boddy.

“The compromise deal gives everyone the opportunity to unite behind Worcester City Football Club.

“I sincerely hope the board will see reason and accept it as it is a way of uniting all the different factions behind the club.”
