THE future of Worcester City Football Club was today in limbo following the latest breakdown in talks over a new board of directors at St George’s Lane.

The current board claim to have accepted an invitation to meet with the Shareholders Action Group, who in turn have said it was the club’s request to have another get-together — a move they say in a statement that has been “unanimously rejected.”

The claims and counter-claims have left the Blue Square South side in a state of uncertainty.

The statement released by the club said: “The board of directors of Worcester City Football Club are pleased to accept the invitation of the Shareholders Action Group to formally meet for an open discussion.”

But the action group retorted, saying: “The posting on the club’s official website by Dave Boddy was the invitation extended to us by him and was not agreed to.

“Having spoken to the members of the group, the offer from Mr Boddy was unanimously rejected as yet another time-wasting exercise.”

The action group had wanted a decision on a compromise deal for the new board by mid-day today.

“We want to meet with the Shareholders Action Group next week,” said City chairman Boddy. “We acknowledge there needs to be change.”
