JON Richardson has decided not to take up an offer to stay with Worcester City next season.

The 33-year-old defender, who made 42 appearances for Rich-ard Dryden’s team, was one of five players asked to take a pay cut for the 2009/10 campaign.

However, he has opted to move on after just one season as he continues to study for a physiotherapy degree in Birmingham.

Richardson turned down a deal to remain with Exeter City last summer in order to further his education, a move that saw him link up with the part-time St George’s Lane outfit.

Manager Dryden said: “I think Jon is going to struggle to do the Monday night training sessions and playing on a Monday so he’s going to look elsewhere.

“He put his degree on hold for a year and he can’t really commit to the training session.

“Jon’s a good professional on and off the pitch and was an experienced head which we needed.”

Craig Wilding has already agreed a new deal for next season but Dryden is still waiting to hear from fellow striker Marco Adaggio and midfielder Dave Bampton, adding: “I have asked them to get back to me in the next couple of days.”

However, keeper Danny McDonnell is mulling over his options after attracting interest from several clubs lower down the non-league pyramid.

City want to retain the 36-year-old but with a view to him also helping out in a coaching and scouting role.

Meanwhile, John Snape has been appointed the new manager of Bromsgrove Rovers. The former Worcester City midfielder takes over from Rod Brown, who left to join Stratford Town earlier this month.
