MATT Dinsmore has handed Worcester City a major boost by delaying his proposed move to the United States.
The diminutive striker, who missed two months towards the end of last season through injury, was set to take up a four-year soccer scholarship in August.
However, he has decided to get more match minutes under his belt until the turn of the year in a bid to increase his chances of attracting better offers from colleges.
Scorer of five goals from 27 starts last term, Dinsmore said: “I am at least guaranteed half a season with Worcester. I may even hold out to finish the season off, it depends what offers I get.”
The former academy youngster will be a major asset to City but manager Richard Dryden knows he still needs to strengthen his forward line.
Having secured the services of former Stafford Rangers skipper Wayne Daniel to bolster the defence, alongside keeper Jake Meredith, Dryden is now focusing on the attacking elements of his team.
With Marco Adaggio and teenager Jack Connolly the only other forwards on the books, following Craig Wilding’s move to midfield, at least one more striker is a priority.
City have also struck a deal with King’s School, Worcester, to use their facilities for pre-season training.
