WORCESTER City have not ruled out the possibility of making a move to bring striker Mark Danks back to the club.
Danks left St George’s Lane last May after rejecting a new deal and signed a two-year contract at Halesowen Town in the British Gas Business Premier Division.
However, his contract was cancelled in February as the Yeltz hit financial trouble and he ended up joining AFC Telford United in Blue Square North, but was released following the Bucks’ play-off final defeat to Gateshead last month.
During his time with City, Danks, top-scorer while at Halesowen, was a fans’ favourite and a source of creativity, something the team lacked last season.
Assistant manager Carl Heeley said the Blue Square South outfit had wanted to keep the fiery forward but a return would be dependant on several factors.
“We didn’t want to lose Mark Danks, we made him the best offer we could at that time and he chose to drop down a division for more money,” he said.
“He is a player that we may be interested in, but our situation is not as good as it was.
“We have to look at the style of player we need. We need a goalscorer but we need someone with a physical presence.
“It’s fair to say for Mark to come back to Worcester City he would have to lower his expectations, but we haven’t spoken to him.”
