Blue Square Conference North Table & Results

City consider bringing back Danks

WORCESTER City have not ruled out the possibility of making a move to bring striker Mark Danks back to the club.

Danks left St George’s Lane last May after rejecting a new deal and signed a two-year contract at Halesowen Town in the British Gas Business Premier Division.

However, his contract was cancelled in February as the Yeltz hit financial trouble and he ended up joining AFC Telford United in Blue Square North, but was released following the Bucks’ play-off final defeat to Gateshead last month.

During his time with City, Danks, top-scorer while at Halesowen, was a fans’ favourite and a source of creativity, something the team lacked last season.

Assistant manager Carl Heeley said the Blue Square South outfit had wanted to keep the fiery forward but a return would be dependant on several factors.

“We didn’t want to lose Mark Danks, we made him the best offer we could at that time and he chose to drop down a division for more money,” he said.

“He is a player that we may be interested in, but our situation is not as good as it was.

“We have to look at the style of player we need. We need a goalscorer but we need someone with a physical presence.

“It’s fair to say for Mark to come back to Worcester City he would have to lower his expectations, but we haven’t spoken to him.”

Surely the extra goals will easily bring in more spectators to pay his wages.
Mark Danks would have a field day in blue square south.

What City also need is the Craig Wilding who signed up three years ago - not the one from the last two seasons.
Danks and the old Wilding would be a formidable partnership.
Danks is a far,far better player than Dinsmore(who is even smaller)but he`ll need a big, strong, mobile player with him.Wilding is a waste of space in midfield.City need a man with the skills for the job - not someone the manager simply likes and wants to squeeze into the team somewhere.

why is he needed? its not like when he was at worcester he was cracking in 20 goals a season anyway so what will change now? I'd say stick with Dinsmore remember he is only 19 and shows signs of becoming a quality blue square prem striker in the future. Once he is fully fit and ready to play you'll see him put in his fair share of goals.
There is no point in signing danks, its not like worcester are challenging for play offs every season anyway so let the boss build up a team over afew years to progress.
