WORCESTER City face losing a chunk of income if Setanta goes into administration.
The St George’s Lane club currently receives a minimum of £15,000 a year in funding from the Conference, an undisclosed proportion of which is made up by the ailing broadcaster.
Setanta has already failed to pay £3m owed to the Scot-tish Premier League and a payment of £30m is due to the Barclays Premier League this week.
Keith Stokes-Smith, City’s finance director, said: “Historically, the club has always had money from the Conference. I wouldn’t wish to speculate what amount of it comes from Setanta.”
Conference general manager Dennis Strudwick added: “We are talking to Setanta as we do all our sponsors and we are keeping in touch with them about the situation. If we don’t receive the money, we are unable to pay it.”
Blue Square Premier clubs, including Kidderminster Har-riers, receive £70,000 in funding and the Aggborough outfit made an extra £21,000 from televised matches last season.
However, chairman Barry Norgrove said: “It will affect us but we haven’t budgeted for anything from Setanta next season so we are lucky that we’re not relying on it. But we’ll miss the funding.”
