MANAGER Carl Heeley is considering making changes to his Worcester City squad in their bid to survive in Blue Square South.
Only one point separates the St George’s Lane club from the relegation zone as they head to Hampshire tomorrow to tackle Havant and Waterlooville (3pm).
“I am keeping an eye open for possible ways of improving the balance of the squad. It’s not difficult to see we have players not in their natural positions and I need to try and address that.”

After more than 500 appearances for City, caretaker boss Heeley is desperate to keep the club in the division and is scouring the market for options, particularly in midfield.
Craig Wilding and Rob Elvins, both strikers by trade, are the current central midfield pairing, with Matt Birley sidelined with a knee injury, and it is a situation Heeley is keen to resolve sooner rather than later.
He said: “I am keeping an eye open for possible ways of improving the balance of the squad. It’s not difficult to see we have players not in their natural positions and I need to try and address that.
“The fact I have two centre-forwards playing in midfield is not ideal. I know I have two midfielders on the bench but Gary Walker has been unfortunate not to be playing and Jordan Fitzpatrick has had a knee injury and hasn’t played for three months.
“To throw him in for 90 minutes wouldn’t be fair on him and he needs minutes under his belt first.”
He added: “We are spending up to our budget so if I do see ways of improving the squad it would have to be one in and one out.
“But everybody will get their opportunity and some haven’t yet so, before I make any decisions, everybody will get their chance as promised.
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t looking around.
“Survival is key and we have to maximise every opportunity.”

At this stage of the season, and with City in the position they`re in, it might be worth letting two go to get one good one in - most of City`s midfield is not good enough for this league so to avoid relegation it could be worth a gamble.
Carl seems to be growing into the job - I hope he turns out to be an inspired choice.
