CARL Heeley blamed individual errors for Worcester City’s latest defeat in Blue Square South.
The St George’s Lane club’s loss at Havant and Waterlooville was their 14th of the season and leaves them entrenched in a battle for survival.
It was also City’s 10th defeat away from home and the caretaker manager, number two to former boss Richard Dryden, is fed up with what he is seeing. He said: “I thought we should have scored five or six goals and the game should have been dead and buried.
“We should not have been going into the last minute trying to get a point.
“We are not clinical enough in front of goal. We’ve missed opportunities and conceded three sloppy goals.
“Every single goal was a mistake and that possibly sums up our season.
“Mark Clyde had a great chance in the first-half with a free header which, by his own admission, he expected to score from and he held his hands up to that.
“Marco was one-on-one with the keeper and should have scored.
“I’ve got to address that situation, I’ve seen it for 26 games now and I don’t believe it’s going to go away.
“You can do all the preparation and organisation in the world and people can know their jobs but you cannot legislate for individual errors and that’s cost us dearly.”
Heeley, however, did single out Gary Walker for praise after handing the midfielder a starting berth in place of Rob Elvins on a ground City won 2-0 at in October 2008.
The City boss added: “I said everybody would get their opportunity.
“Gary Walker had his on Saturday. He made one mistake for the penalty but, that aside, I thought he was exceptional.
“He did exactly as I asked him, he went and competed, got close to people and did things simple. But the mistakes and individual errors have cost us and collectively that is the reason we have been beaten.”
City are next in action tomorrow night (7.45) when they face Kidderminster Harriers for the second week in a row at home — this time in the Worcestershire FA Senior Cup semi-finals.
